Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Now Syncs with Google Fit

The update to Harry Potter: Wizards Unite by Niantic delivers a new functional element. The game that requires a lot of walking now syncs its data with Google Fit, the default Android service tracking user’s activity. Now your fitness goals can be synced to your game with Adventure Sync, and it can be activated within the game.

Your walking distance within the game is always tracked with Google Fit. The game fetches the data from there, so you don’t even have to have HP: WU running when you’re going out for a walk. That means that most of the time you don’t even have to take your phone out of your pocket to keep playing.

In terms of the gameplay, it means that the distance you walk automatically applies to your account. You don’t have to walk the street with your phone active in your hand. The items that require a certain distance for unlocking will get unlocked, even if you have walked the way without launching the game.

Other types of in-game activity, though, will still prompt you to interact with locations even when you have activated Adventure Sync. So this feature won’t make the game completely idle. In addition, Adventure Sync is optional, free to turn both on and off if you please.
